Modern social networks and labour market

The thesis is focused on modern social networks and their influence on society and labour market. It is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. In the first part, internet social networks are defined, their history, current situation and influence on society and labour market depicted. Comparison of the situation in Czechia and the globe is also included. The practical part describes and compares two surveys made within groups of Czech and international respondents. The surveys are focused mainly on the spread of social networks and their usage as a tool for searching employment among the target group between 18 and 28 years old. In the conclusion the findings are described.
The Influence of Online Social Networks on the Perception of Public and Privat Categories: Sharing Information Within a profile on Facebook

The main theme of the thesis are social networks which has become more and more significant communication means these days. It mainly focus on the "public" and "private" categories that appear at social networks - especially on Facebook. Theory brings different views of traditional authors Hannah Arendt and Jürgen Habermas based on antagonistic nature of this dichotomy - public and private. These approaches are complemented by a modern concept of an american anthropologist Susan Gal, which serves as an alternative. The second part deals with the qualitative research and its results that show how Facebook users percieve and build private and public areas on this social network. Where is the border between them and if there is a possibility in this dynamic environment to find similarities or differences from the traditional conception. Analysis of the Use of Social Network Sites in Personnel Management

The thesis deals with methods of using social networking sites in personnel management. The social networking sites (Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter) and their usable instruments are presented. The attention is focused on the factors that influence their use, such as the labour market situation or the specifics of Generation Y. The possibilities of using social networking sites including benefits and limits of this use are presented in the field of personnel planning, recruitment, selection and development of employees, based on the study of foreign scientific literature. A part of the thesis is a qualitative survey of the use of online social networking sites in personnel management. Methods of using online social networks in the personnel departments of large organizations based in Prague were investigated by using interviews. The common and different features of the use of online social networks in the Czech Republic and abroad arise from the comparison of the results of investigation and findings mentioned in foreign articles.
Ethical aspects of employing social networks in the recruitment process

This thesis deals with ethical aspects of employing social networks in personnel management. Selected social networks with their benefits and limits in this field are presented. It is focused on the recruitment and selection processes from the ethical point of view and possible risks of using social networks. The thesis is based on previous findings mostly from foreign scientific sources. The attitude of human resources specialists to using social networks in the recruitment process is discussed. In a qualitative survey, the attitude of human resources specialists from organizations and from recruitment companies is compared to find out possible differences.
Predicting Using of Social Networking Services Based on Using other Media

This work based on regression analysis and analysis using uses and gratification theory at the sample of 146 students opens the relationship between the use of online social networks and other media. Analysis comes up with results inconsistent with the theory of niche. The wider are the gratifications provided by online social networks and the wider are their gratification opportunities, the less they were used or not used more. It is also shown that there is a positive relationship between the number of dimension in which the internet social networks compete with other media and a usage of internet social networks. A major conclusion of this work is a negative relationship between the use of online social networks and all other media, including traditional media, with the exception of computer games. A negative relationship against expectations was found between online social networks and online news sites. In addition to these findings some interesting relationships between the use of online social networks and personal characteristics of their users were shown. There is no effect of age, gender or grade point average. Positive effect, however, was found for semester of studies and negative effect of having a job.
Self-censorship on Facebook

The thesis deals with self-censorship on the biggest online social network Facebook. The main purpose was to determine the reasons for using self-censorship on Facebook. Qualitative research was elaborated with usage of semi structured interview focused on virtual world of active Facebook users and on deeper examination of it. Theoretical part describes concepts and ideas related to the theme of the thesis. The methodological part describes in detail the qualitative research and it's requirements. The analytical part deals with the research itself, analysis of transcribed interviews and with the rules designed by researcher for safe use of Facebook by children. The researcher has decided to set the rules from the findings determined during the creation of the thesis. The self-censorship is the key to the safe behavior on Facebook. Every user of this social network has to learn how to distinguish, what could be placed there and what shouldn't.
